Background

PlayStation Productions, LLC is an American production studio owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It was founded in 2019 as a successor to PlayStation Originals, with a focus on adapting the company's video game franchises into films and television shows. An emphasis was placed on coordination between the film and television departments at Sony Pictures with the video game development studios at PlayStation Studios.

Logo (October 21, 2021-)

Visuals: On a black background, a blue triangular symbol (similar to that of the Triangle button, revealed to be the Focus device from the Horizon series) fades in and makes several trails coming out in the same color, revealing part of Aloy from the Horizon series. Then it cuts to the Leviathan Axe from God of War, as many circle trail-like things surround it (as a resemblance to the Circle button) as the camera slowly backs away. Then it cuts to Nathan Drake from Uncharted, followed by a closeup of Jin Sakai's face from Ghost of Tsushima and Joel Miller and Ellie with their backs away from each other; from The Last of Us. Then it cuts to Kratos and Atreus from God of War, followed by Astro Bot from Astro Bot Rescue Mission and Astro's Playroom (with the lights and its body showing the PlayStation buttons), a different view of Aloy, the titular characters of Ratchet & Clank, Sackboy from LittleBigPlanet, and a closeup of Kratos (later replaced with Nathan's face then cutting to the driver from Gran Turismo (with the helmet's visor being opened to show the driver's eyes) in the movie of the same name), until we cut to a shot of many PlayStation characters together (with the addition of Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal in Gran Turismo, as some of the characters are moved to reflect the change) as the camera zooms in. These shape trails resemble the PlayStation buttons. It then dies down into a blue flash as the corporate PlayStation logo forms from various light streaks, which then dies down as "PlayStation" in its corporate font fades in below, with "PRODUCTIONS" in a more basic font.

Alternate Descriptive Video Description: Video game characters stand frozen as glowing blue light scan over their faces and weapons. A piercing light appears transforming into a white logo containing the letters "PS", PlayStation Productions.

Variants:

  • On PlayStation Australia's YouTube channel, it runs at 30fps.
  • Trailers have this logo shortened.
  • A still version exists.
  • Multiple variants exist where only one character appears. An example is Aloy being revealed by the Focus device.
  • On the TV adaptation of The Last of Us, the logo shares the screen with the Naughty Dog logo.
  • On the company's introduction video, as shown on the company's website, it shows the various views from the PlayStation logo and various PlayStation characters, along with its lighting.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A majestic orchestral fanfare which rises higher; coupled with a somber piano theme. Composed by Bill Hemstapat, Justin Fields, and Max Davidoff-Grey & Casey Kolb of Lunacy Audio. Sometimes, the opening/closing theme plays instead.

Availability: First seen on the trailers for Uncharted (2022), and made its debut on the film itself. Also seen in a post on the official PlayStation Twitter account on February 15, 2022, as well as the TV adaptations of The Last of Us and Twisted Metal, and on Gran Turismo.
