Background

Cinema Group Pictures was founded by William J. Immerman in the late 1970s. It bought home video distributor Continental Video in 1985. It was later absorbed into Overseas FilmGroup. In 1987, Andre Blay and Elliott Kastner later joined the company for a brief period of time and rebranded to Palisades Entertainment in December of that year. The company sold off its distribution business in 1988.

1st Logo (1979?-1987)

Visuals: On a black background, the words "a presentation of" appear in the center of the screen. It fades out, and 3 turquoise trails come in via a triangle formation, which settle in the center as the trails retract to reveal an abstract-looking "C". From the bottom, another trail zooms up and reveals "Cinema Group" in white. It sits still for a few seconds before the logo zooms in to the top and bottom parts with trails, which follow them a second later.

Variant: On some films, "a presentation of" doesn't appear.

Technique: Camera-controlled animation.

Audio: None.

Audio Variant: On the Kino Lorber Blu-Ray release of Take This Job and Shove It, the Embassy Television jingle plays over it, probably because of the audio being ripped from a TV airing.

Availability: Can be seen on Southern Comfort, Deadtime Stories and Witchboard, among others.

2nd Logo (October 2-December 1987)

Visuals: On a black background, a teal square is seen at the top center of the screen, with a red and gold border surrounding it. Inside the square, the following text is seen:

CINEMA
GROUP
PICTURES

At the bottom right corner of the square is a "TM" symbol.

Technique: A still, digital image.

Audio: Silent.

Availability: Seen on the original VHS release of Zombie High and the trailer for Brain Damage.
