Imperial Entertainment was founded in 1987 as a joint venture between Danish film company Scanbox Entertainment and the Shah brothers (Sundip R. Shah, Sunil R. Shah, and Ash R. Shah). In the early 1990s, Scanbox bought the remaining shares of Imperial. Imperial released several independent films on video before going into production and making their own films. Later titles were distributed by WarnerVision Entertainment, and later on through Sterling Home Entertainment. In 1997, Imperial was absorbed into Scanbox International. The following year, Sunil Shah left Scanbox to create a distribution company in Poland while his brothers left the company two years later. Scanbox was sold to VCL in 2000, and the Imperial name was still used. As of 2013, Imperial's catalog is distributed by Moonstone Entertainment.

1st Logo (February 13, 1987-1997 [1992-2001 in Poland])

Visuals: On a black background, a crystal sphere zooms out. A second later, a shiny parallelogram zooms out. A circle forms around them as they come together, and a set of blue lines bring forth the words "IMPERIAL ENTERTAINMENT". The logo "shines".


  • There exists a still variant with a more 3D look and it can be found on a video promo for Demons 2: The Nightmare Returns.
  • Another still variant exists of the normal logo.
  • On UK releases and some other foreign releases, it says "IMPERIAL ENTERTAINMENT UK" with "PRESENTS" below.
  • A scope variant exists.

Technique: Early computer animation.

Audio: A new-age synth tune coupled with three chords at the end. Sometimes, it is silent. On other occasions, background noise will be heard. It also used ITI Home Video's music on some Polish VHS tapes.

Availability: Seen on Black Roses, Angel Town, Nemesis and other films of the era. The UK variant can be seen on the UK DVD of the Chuck Norris film Top Dog and the Polish DVD of Cyber Vengeance.

2nd Logo (May 13, 1997-2006 [2001-2006 in Poland])

Visuals: The logo begins with an area with moving gears. The lighting flickers. It then fades to a big gear on a red background with other moving gears in the background, even with one that looks like a jack. It zooms out on a white box with "IMPERIAL" in black on top and "ENTERTAINMENT" on bottom. The logo flashes and a 2-D drawing of a muscular man moving the gear appears.


  • A still version exists. It has a more print look.
  • Another variant simply has the box moving and nothing more. This is also the logo for their Polish divsion.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An ominous-sounding male choir with the sound of moving gears. When the logo zooms out, a bit of a hissing sound is heard and a flashing sound comes when the man appears. Like the previous logo, this may also be silent. On some Polish tapes, it used Demel Home Video's jingle instead.

Availability: Seen on DVDs of Black Eagle, The Dark, The Bikini Car Wash Company, Angel Town, Mikey, and Nemesis, among others, as well as Polish Disney, Fox, Universal, Columbia, and Dreamworks tapes, among others. The still version appears on some films released after 1996, including Shadowbuilder, and the MVD Blu-Ray of Blast (1997), after the 3rd logo and the Moonstone Entertainment logo. The silent version appears on the 2006 Polish VHS of Cars.

3rd Logo (2014-)

Visuals: Against a black background, a crown spins for a bit, then


wipes in, at the same as the crown. Then it rotates and zooms out, the crown flashes and a griffin appears.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A triumphant fanfare.

Availability: Seen on Sabotage, the MVD Blu-Rays of Blast (1997) and Nemesis. This logo was used only as a plaster and/or to maintain ownership of their catalog.
