Visuals: Essentially just the words "HBO" and "D O C U M E N T A R Y F I L M S", separated by a small, diagonal filmstrip, on a black bacground.

Variant: There is a Cinemax-affiliated version, where "D O C U M E N T A R Y F I L M S" is moved below and "CINEMAX" takes its place, written in the same font as "HBO".

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: It was seen on Capturing the Friedmans.

2nd Logo (Mid 2000s-)

Visuals: On a black background, various particles fly away from the camera, eventually forming the HBO logo and the text "DOCUMENTARY FILMS", both separated by a border. The logo shines as it zooms out.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An eerie synth chord.

Availability: Seen on HBO-produced documentaries. ^[Examples?]
