3rd Logo (c.1972-1985)

Visuals: On a red background, the first half of the first N in the NASA logo (the logo is in white) is shown. The N begins to rotate clockwise, leaving a white trail behind it that follows it. As it is rotating, the camera zooms out, revealing the rest of the logo spinning with the N. After one full rotation, the logo stops, and the trail goes into the logo and disappears. The words "National Aeronautics and Space Administration" fade in below the logo.

Variant: NASA-The 25th Year has a special version of this logo. A "25" is shown on a white background, with the 2 in red and the 5 in blue. The bottom portions of the numbers are shaded in (no spaces), and a white star is in between the numbers. After a few seconds, the "25" fades out and fades into the part of the logo where the N begins to spin.

Technique: 2D cel animation.

Audio: A synth tune. The 25th anniversary variant has a calm, five-note tune.
