Background

New Toei was a subsidiary of Toei established in March 1, 1960 as Daini Toei (or known as "Second Toei") to produce and distribute more gendaigeki films.

Daini Toei

Logo (March 1, 1960-February 8, 1961)

Visuals: There is a shot of a mountain at dawn. As sun rays began to appear, the Daini Toei logo in white (a modified Toei logo with the Japanese characters "第二" to the left and right respectively) zooms in.

Variant: A monochrome variant exists.

Technique: Camera-controlled animation.

Audio: A generic 1960s trumpet fanfare, silent, or the opening theme of the film.

New Toei

Logo (February 15-December 24, 1961)

Visuals: A shot of an erupting volcano. The camera zooms into the crater as the New Toei logo (a modified Toei logo with the Japanese characters "ニュー東映" inside) zooms in.

Variant: A monochrome variant exists.

Technique: Mostly live-action. The zooming of the logo might've been done on cels.

Audio: None, or the opening theme of the film.
