Background

In February 1989, Phoenix Entertainment Group was acquired by The Hearst Corporation, who owns distributor King Features Entertainment and it was renamed to King Phoenix Entertainment. The division was later renamed in 1990 to Hearst Entertainment Productions after parent King Features Entertainment was renamed to Hearst Entertainment.

Logo (May 14, 1989-May 22, 1990)

Visuals: Same as the 1986 Phoenix Entertainment Group logo, except after the orange light glows, the cursive "P" is shorter and is in a pinkish color and there's an orange tip on the cursive "P" until it disappears. As the tip disappears, the text is changed to "KING PHOENIX ENTERTAINMENT". There is an orange gradient crown that stood next to the word "KING".

Variant: A prototype version of the logo exists where the orange tip stays on when the text and the crown appear.

Technique: Same as the 1986 Phoenix Entertainment Group logo.

Audio: Same as the second music variant of the 1986 Phoenix Entertainment Group logo.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the end title theme plays over, or the logo is silent.

Availability:

  • The prototype version only appears on the TV movie Out on the Edge.
  • The standard version made its debut on Blind Witness.
  • It also appears on the 1990 TV movies Challenger and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
  • The logo is however always followed by either the King Features Entertainment or the Hearst Entertainment logos.
