Bob Banner Associates

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (October 5, 1956?-1980)

Visuals: A in-credit notice, the blocky letters "BBA" are seen, with "A BOB BANNER ASSOCIATES PRODUCTION" below it.

Variants:

  • Most of the time, there's no logo to speak of, just text mentioned.
  • Sometimes, the "BBA" has points, and the text just says "BOB BANNER ASSOCIATES".

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: The closing theme or none.

Availability: Can be found on the pre-1980 productions, like Bud and Lou.

2nd Logo (1980-May 12, 1992)

Visuals: Either on a black background or chroma keyed into the end credits, 5 blue circles (2 on the top, 3 on the bottom) draw in a counterclockwise way, and they zoom out slightly to the left middle. Then "bob" appears in red and shines with a spark wipe, as a long line appears to the left of the circles. The same thing happens when "banner" appears, but the line appears in the middle of the circles. "associates" then appears to do the same thing, but the line is half the size and appears to the right of the single circle, forming the letters "BBa". The logo shines afterwards.

Variants:

  • A early version had the "BBa" in a larger size and the entire logo looks thinner. The animation also just had the "BBa" appearing 1st and then the "bob banner associates" text. The logo was also sometimes still. This appeared on the 1st season of Solid Gold, and If Things Were Different.
  • Sometimes, the logo may be still, and was like that from 1988-1992.

Technique: Scanimate effects.

Audio: Either the end theme of the show, or none.

Availability: Appeared on 1980-1984 episodes of Solid Gold and Star Search from 1983-1988. It also appeared on With Murder in Mind and on the VHS release of Bud and Lou.

3rd Logo (February 24, 1992)

Visuals: On a blue background is a small purple sphere surrounded by seven red circles that seem to get thinner when away from the sphere. The bottom section is cropped and beneath that is the white text "BOB BANNER ASSOCIATES and THE GARY L. PUDNEY COMPANY".

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the program.

Availability: Seen on the TV movie Crash Landing: The Rescue of Flight 232.

4th Logo (April 18, 1993-August 5, 2000)

Visuals: On a black background, two red comets form the company's name with "Bob Banner" being capitalized, while above the text, some blue lights draw the "BBa" from the 2nd logo in a similar manner. The entire logo has a metallic 3D look.

Variant: On The Sea Wolf, the logo is still and filmed.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A twinkling synth tune, or the closing music.

Availability: Seen on The Sea Wolf and Real Kids, Real Adventures.
