Background

Twofour is a television and digital media group formed in 1989 by former BBC News producer Charles Wace and Christopher Slade. They mainly produce reality, game, and factual programmes. In 2012, they set up a distribution arm named "Twofour Rights" and merged with ITV Studios nine years later. Speaking of ITV, they acquired the company in June 2015.

Two Four Productions

1st Logo (3 July 1994-1997)

Visuals: On a white background, a grey box containing a connected "2" and "4" is seen. An upside down gold triangle is next to the numbers' connected points and the top and right-most sections of the box are blue whereas the bottom most is dark grey. Underneath is the text "A TWO FOUR PRODUCTION" alongside a channel's credit and the copyright notice.

Technique: A digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability:

  • It was seen on Great Westerners and On the Moor, which are long gone from television and are not available on home media.

  • It was also seen on early episodes of Collectors' Lot.

2nd Logo (1997-1999)

Visuals: There is a close-up of two rotating quadrilateral shapes, with the top and bottom coloured gold and grey respectively. It quickly wipes over to another close up featuring a grey oval before another transition occurs, this time revealing the full logo, the same as last time, zooming away. Once it stops, a faint spotlight forms surrounding it. Simultaneously, "A TWO FOUR PRODUCTION" and additional in-credit text fade in below.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Seen on episodes of Collectors' Lot from this period.

Twofour

1st Logo (10 January 1999-2000)

Visuals: The sequence is in a similar fashion as the previous logo, consisting of a few close-ups of the logo rotating before the full one zooms into view. This time, the objects are close-ups of the company name in a laid down view, first in gold and then blue. When the logo finishes zooming in, the objects disappear. The logo itself is shown to be a modified version of the previous logo with the left box in gold and the right and top-most bars in dodger blue. "twofour" is placed above the logo whereas in-credit information including the company name, its co-producer, and the copyright notice are displayed below.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Availability: Seen on Monet's Garden, which has this logo intact on its VHS releases, as well as episodes of Collectors' Lot from this period.

2nd Logo (Mid?-2000-2002)

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.
