Background
Paramount Players is a division of Paramount Pictures founded in 2017 by studio CEO Jim Gianopulos, specializing in films based on "contemporary properties". In March 2022, the operations of the division were folded into the main Paramount banner following the resignation of the studio's head, Jeremy Kramer. However, for the time being the division will remain functional (at least until all of its remaining productions have been completed).
Logo (November 2, 2018-)
-
Earlier version
-
Later version
-
Later version, widescreen
Visuals: Same as the 2012 Paramount Pictures logo, based on the "100 Years" variant, but near the end, the stars and text encircle the mountain peak higher than usual and all turn metallic. As this happens, the background turns dark gradient blue and the abstract mountain design from the print logo appears as the word "PLAYERS" fades in between the tip of the mountain and "Paramount". This is similar to the second Paramount Pictures logo.
Later Variant: The logo was slightly reanimated in 2019, which now has the abstract mountain drawing itself in subtly instead of simply fading in, and the shine on the left corner of the "P" in "Paramount" fades in quicker and also fades out. This version debuted on What Men Want.
Other Variants:
- Just like the normal Paramount logo, a version with less clouds and different light shading on the logo exists.
- Scope, widescreen and fullscreen versions exist.
- On Senior Year, the logo has an orange tint.
- Sometimes, the logo fades out earlier than usual.
Technique: CGI by Devastudios and animated using Terragen from Planetside Software and Autodesk Maya.
Audio: The 2011 Paramount Pictures fanfare by Michael Giacchino, none or the opening theme of the movie.
Audio Variant: On Dora and the Lost City of Gold, whooshes are heard when the stars fly by and some water sounds are heard when they skim across the lake.
Availability:
- This logo debuted on Nobody's Fool, which was released on November 2, 2018, and has since appeared on almost every film produced by the division.
- Although the 2022 reorganization of the division to Paramount proper raised questions for this logo's future, the logo still appears on films released by the division, including the Paramount+ films Jerry & Marge Go Large, US prints of Orphan: First Kill, and On the Come Up (the latter two of which also received limited theatrical releases).
- Despite being a Paramount Players production and even crediting the label in its opening titles, this logo does not appear on Smile, which uses the standard Paramount Pictures logo instead (due to its promotion to a theatrical release from a Paramount+ release). This implies that the label will mainly be used for streaming and PVOD films.
Unused Logos
Plaque (2017/2018?)
Visuals: The screen pans over several parts of a metal plaque of the Paramount Players logo, such as the stars, the "Pa" in "Paramount", and the mountain. Eventually, the screen zooms out to get a view of the full plaque.
Technique: CGI by Michael Daniels at Devastudios.
Audio: Unknown, as all we have are style frames.
Availability: Unused. Can only be seen in the form of style frames on Michael Daniels' website here.
Strokes (2017/2018?)
Visuals: On a white wall, various swirly lines rise up. Many more lines of different shapes form, causing the wall to resemble the famous gates at Paramount's studio lot. Eventually, the Paramount text, mountain, and stars rise up from the wall. Almost resembling a paper plate with a hole in it, a hole appears in the center and gets larger. The hole reveals the finalized blue and white Paramount Players logo. The rest of the wall is once again flat.
Technique: CGI by Michael Daniels at Devastudios.
Audio: Unknown, as all we have are style frames.
Availability: Same as "Plaque".
Nostalgia (2017/2018?)
Visuals: It is rather hard to tell from the still style frames what exactly is going on in this logo. It is all in black-and-white, and seems to mostly involve a circle of paper spikes that resemble the logo's stars. Eventually, the metallic black logo reveals itself.
Technique: CGI by Michael Daniels at Devastudios.
Audio: Unknown, as all we have are style frames.
Availability: Same as "Plaque".
Button (2017/2018?)
Visuals: The screen pans over various shaped indentations in a blue, shiny Paramount Players logo button, starting with two of the stars. The screen then zooms out to see the full button.
Technique: CGI by Michael Daniels at Devastudios.
Audio: Unknown, as all we have are style frames.
Availability: Same as "Plaque".
