Background

In 2003, The New TNN was renamed to Spike TV. It continued to hold onto the rights to air WWE until 2005, when it was defected to USA Network. In 2018, it was renamed to Paramount Network to better reflect its parent company Paramount Pictures.

1st Logo (April 19-July 19, 2003)

Visuals: Over a white background, there is the word "Spike" in a script font, the word "TV" superscripting it, and the network slogan "FIRST NETWORK FOR MEN" below it.

Variant: There is an early variant that uses the unused Spike TV logo.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: The closing theme of the show, a rock tune, or someone saying "What is going on?" with a whip crack.

Availability: It was seen on some Spike programs like Gary the Rat, Ren and Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon, and MXC until the network re-branded in 2006. This logo is retained on current prints of Stripperella.

3rd Logo (May 9, 2006-April 5, 2009)

Visuals: Against a black background, there is a huge explosion playing in reverse, with the debris forming the then-current Spike logo, which consists of a golden yellow chevron shape with a gap in the middle and the text "SPIKE" inside it, and the word "ORIGINAL" fades in below it. A copyright stamp is sometimes shown below.

Variants:

  • On award shows and other events on Spike from 2006-07, "EVENT" is added next to "ORIGINAL".
  • Starting in 2007 on Spike events, the "ORIGINALS" text is replaced with "EVENT PRODUCTION".

The yellow colors move out, the Spike chevron logo turns yellow, and "_ORIGINAL" appears below near the bottom-right part of the chevron. The logo glows, then briefly flashes to white and to black on a yellow background.

Variant: On Spike original events, "ORIGINALS" is replaced by "EVENT PRODUCTION".

Technique: Simple 2D effects by BigStar.

Variants:

  • On Cops and Jail, the word "ORIGINAL" is removed.
