'''Logo:''' A redone concept of the previous logo. The most notable changes are that the logo is now in muted colors and the background is changed, with two forests meeting at a vantage point and the cloud background showing a sunset at the horizon. The logo also starts with a boy running onto the boardwalk, in even slower animation than the previous logo. This is all in a box that slowly zooms out and reveals the same text as before, in a new font (called Avenir) and not in italics.

Background

Lakeshore Entertainment is a film production and finance company founded in 1994 by Tom Rosenberg and Ted Tannebaum. Notable films by the company include the Underworld series, Million Dollar Baby, Runaway Bride, and The Lincoln Lawyer.

In 2013, LEC launched a television division, and in 2015, they launched a digital studio, Off the Dock, that targets the YouTube demographic. The company also had a record label division, Lakeshore Records.

In March 2019, Lakeshore placed its 300-title film library up for sale, including the New World Pictures/Trans Atlantic Entertainment library (purchased by Lakeshore in 1996). In October 2019, LEC sold its library and international operation to Vine Alternative Investments for roughly $200 million.

In 2021, the company was placed under Village Roadshow Pictures and began distributing content owned by Vine Alternative Investments under the name Lakeshore Village Entertainment.

1st Logo (January 1996-May 30, 1997)

Visuals: On a black background is a white frame containing a picture of a shirtless boy jumping off of a boardwalk into a lake. The picture is sepia-toned and filmed from the back. "L A K E S H O R E" is displayed above and "E N T E R T A I N M E N T" is displayed below, both in the Eras ITC Bold font.

Trivia: The logo is based on a photo taken by John Abbott and designed by FABLEfx.

Technique: A still image.

Audio: Silence or the film's opening theme.

Availability: Seen on Bandwagon, 'Til There Was You, Box of Moonlight, and Kids in the Hall: Brain Candy. It is believed this plastered the New World Pictures logo on the original 1997 Anchor Bay DVD of Hellraiser and the Cinema Club region 2 DVD of Creepshow 2. It was also seen on a 2010 IFC airing of Heathers, again, in place of the New World Pictures logo.

2nd Logo (September 19, 1997-October 21, 2016)

Visuals: The logo starts with a full-screen shot of the lake from before (still in sepia-tone), and the camera pans down a bit, focusing on the boardwalk. The boy in shorts runs into the frame towards the lake (in slow motion) and jumps, freezing in mid-air. The picture zooms out, and the words "L A K E S H O R E" and "E N T E R T A I N M E N T" (in the same font as before) fade into their usual spots.

Variants:

  • There is a version in which "I N T E R N A T I O N A L" replaces "E N T E R T A I N M E N T". This sometimes plasters or precedes the 1984 New World Pictures logo on films such as Under The Boardwalk.
  • At the end of Arlington Road, the print logo is seen.

Technique: Live-action (which appears to be time-lapsed footage) and CGI (such as the light reflections on the river). Directed by Miles Flanagan, represented at the time by Klasky Csupo Commercials.

Audio: A soothing flute melody composed by John McCarthy, sometimes coupled with a goose honking and water splashing. On some films, the movie's opening theme plays, or it is silent.

Availability: It appeared on all of the company's films from Going All the Way to American Pastoral.

3rd Logo (November 24, 2016-July 18, 2018)

Visuals: A redone concept of the previous logo.

Variant: A short version exists.

Technique: CGI by Supervixen Studios.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie or none.

Availability: It debuted on Underworld: Blood Wars and has appeared on Lakeshore's remaining films. Also seen on the television adaptation of Heathers.
