Background

Great Oaks Entertainment was a short-lived production company founded in 1995 as a joint venture between filmmaker John Hughes and former Hollywood Pictures president Ricardo Mestres. Based at Walt Disney Studios in Los Angeles, it only produced three films: Jack, 101 Dalmatians, and Flubber. All three of these films were box-office successes, but received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, and the company was shut down and folded into Walt Disney Pictures in 1997.

Logo (November 27, 1996-November 26, 1997)

Visuals: The camera zooms out from behind the trunk of an oak tree. An acorn falls from the top of the tree, and bumps down the branches. A leaf has also fallen, and is following the acorn. They fall onto a lake, with the acorn landing on the leaf (the logo slows down while this happens). A script "Great Oaks" fades in below the logo as ripples resonate from the leaf.

Variant: On trailers for 101 Dalmatians, the print logo is used.

Technique: CGI by Imaginary Forces.

Audio: The sound of the acorn hitting the branches plus various atmospheric noises.

Audio Variant: On Flubber, the opening theme plays over the logo.

Availability: It appeared only on 101 Dalmatians (1996) and Flubber.
