Background

The Collective (also known as Collective Digital Studio as a multi-channel network from 2011-2016) was an American entertainment company founded by Reza Izad, Dan Weinstein, Gary Binkow, and Michael Green in 2005. It would set up another studio in 2013 called Studio71 with Sebastian Weil and Ronald Horstman based in Berlin.

In 2014, chairman Michael Green said he is shuttering the company's music-management division to focus entirely on the digital-video business; however its division, Collective Artist Management, is still active as of today. In 2015, Studio71 acquired Collective Digital Studio, and it was renamed as "Collective Studio71" for a short time before folding the following year.

As of November 2022, the studio's production library is owned by Peter Chernin's The North Road Company, after previous owner ProSiebenSat.1 Media (who acquired Collective's successor Studio71 in December 2017) sold their American production arm to them.

1st Logo (July 28, 2005-April 23, 2014)

Visuals: On an orange background, a grungy "C" draws itself in. Inside it, "THE COLLECTIVE" is wiped in with a ray.

Variant: Sometimes, the logo is superimposed.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None or the ending theme.

Availability: Seen on The Collective television shows from 2005 to 2010 and also seen at the beginning of Fred: The Movie. Also seen on all episodes of The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange (excluding the pilot) and The Misfortune of Being Ned from 2012 to 2014 as well.

2nd Logo (2010-November 21, 2014)

Visuals: There is a grungy "O" on a cracked white scan-line gradient. Then, "O"'s fly in it as the camera quickly zooms out. A flash occurs as the little "O"'s turn into "THE COLLECTIVE", which spaces out until it is normal. Part of the "O" fades out, turning it into a "C".

Variants:

  • Like the previous logo, sometimes it is superimposed on the credits.
  • A short version exists.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth theme with whoosh sounds, none or the opening/ending theme.

Availability: Seen on The Collective television shows from 2010 to 2014 (such as the first three V/H/S films), except for The Misfortune of Being Ned and The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange. All episodes of the latter (except "Marshmalia") use the previous logo.
