Background

Motion International was the distribution unit of Coscient Group created in 1990 to produce and distribute television shows, and later, to release videotapes in Canada. Coscient Group was renamed Motion International in 1999. In 2000, it was acquired by Groupe TVA and renamed as TVA International.

1st Logo (1997-1999)

Visuals: Over a moving globe background, there are some streaks writing "Motion" in a blue cursive font. Three streaks come together and make a white light, revealing a white outlined star on the top of the "i". The word "INTERNATIONAL" in a stacked thin font fades below; the logo shines and the Coscient Group logo with the text in French, fades in underneath.

Technique: CGI

Audio: Some loud whooshes, followed by an explosion sound.

Availability: Seen on Canadian VHS releases from this company such as Someone is Watching, Stranger in the House, Little Men, and Kid Cop, among others.

2nd Logo (1999-2000)

Visuals: Over a blue kaleidoscopic background, the logo starts with various balls of light flashing and illuminating the outlines of the letters of "MOTION" in a futuristic ESPN-like font. When almost all of the letters are fully lit up, a moving speck of light floats behind it. Then, the text flashes and it turns black, along with a black bar reading "INTERNATIONAL", in a Bank Gothic font, below that. The moving speck moves around and colors the tops of the "M" red, the "T" and "I" green, and the "N" a lighter shade of blue before disappearing.

Variants:

  • There is a short version.
  • There's a still version on a white background.
  • Exists a filmed variant, zoomed-in and in CinemaScope.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An eerie-tune with tribal steps and metallic noises, followed by a rhythm tune with a choir and 3 piano notes. In other cases, the closing theme plays it over.

Availability: Found on later releases such as Out of Control (1998). It was also found on many TV movies like Task Force, Dr. Lucille: The Lucille Teasdale Story and season 3 of Popular Mechanics for Kids.
