Background

AP International is an Indian film distributor headquartered in Chennai, which licenses Tamil & Malayalam movies.

1st Logo (2000s-2016?)

Visuals: On a black background, a blue light shines and rotates at the center. A red "A" without the line zooms out. Then a connected P draws in next to it, while a CD is shown wiping in below the forming logo. Once everything is formed, the blue script "International" fades in front of the disc. The screen cuts to a black/blue gradient background with the company's address and contact info.

Variants:

  • The company info screen has been redesigned several times.
  • To commemorate the company's 25th anniversary, a variant of the logo was made where a gold ribbon with "25 YEARS" in-between two yellow stars fades in below the formed logo.

Technique: 2D CGI effects.

Audio: A string movie score, with whooshes during the forming of the logo.

Audio Variant: There exists a high-tone version.

Availability:

  • Seen on DVDs from the company of films including Thiruda Thiruda and Unnidathil Ennai Koduthen. On international prints it is usually preceded by the Aingharan Video logo.
  • The 25 Years variant is reported to appear in DVDs of Mullum Malarum, Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, and Cuckoo.

2nd Logo (2016?-)

Visuals: On a black background, red particles appear floating to the right. Dim red lights are shown forming a lowercase, interconnected outline of an "ap", which zooms back into the center - as it does, more red lights and bokeh appear. The camera quickly moves back, and a red burst appears in front of the logo, filling it in red and clearing all of the particles. A shine passes through the logo, and the letters of "INTERNATIONAL" in white are revealed wiping in and bouncing. Red bokeh lights appear behind the logo and a shooting star passes below the "INTERNATIONAL" text.

Technique: 2D CGI effects.

Audio: A short majestic brass fanfare, leading to an orchestral crescendo note.

Audio Variant: There exists a high-tone version.

Availability:

  • Seen on recent prints of films distributed by the company, including Mundhanai Mudichu and Anniyan.
  • Also appears before recent Tamil and Malayalam films like Vikram Vedha, Thallumaala and Brahmam.
