Right after a management buyout by Neil Balvades, the head of the Taft-Hardie group in 1988, the home video division, Taft Video was renamed into Southern Star Video to reflect its owner, Southern Star Entertainment. CIC Video continues to distribute the titles, with some titles being distributed by Rainbow Entertainment. The division however shut down for good in 1994.
