Background

Word Entertainment is a Christian music and media distribution company, which is currently owned by Curb Records. They are known for releasing the Psalty Kid's Praise videos, as well as VeggieTales episodes with Big Idea Entertainment from 1993 to 2009 in the Christian market, typically through their children's division, Everland Entertainment.

Logo (1994-1997)

Visuals: On a blue/black gradient background, a white square with a red border on it "floats in" from the right and moves to the center like a piece of paper falling to the floor. The company's logo (a stencil-styled big "W.", with a red line below the "W.", and a stencil-styled "WORD" below that; both the "W." and "WORD" are in Courier) zooms out and places itself on top of the square inside the border. The logo then slowly zooms in.

Variant: In some cases, the logo does not zoom in at the end.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Synth noises that resemble the THX "Deep Note" or (in the case of the variant) silence.

Availability:

  • It was seen on Word-distributed VHS prints of the first few (mid-90s) VeggieTales episodes; such releases were later distributed by Lyrick Studios.
  • It also appeared on the Bible Action Songs VHS series, preceding the 1st Everland Entertainment logo.
  • The variant was seen on Psalty's Salvation Celebration: The Movie and Psalty's Funtastic Praise Party.
  • It might have been seen on other home videos released from the company in that period; one confirmed source is some prints of the original 1995 VHS of VeggieTales: Are You My Neighbor?, but most prints of that - and most of the early Everland Entertainment releases of VeggieTales - have literally nothing but the program and the Big Idea logo.
