Background

WNPB is a PBS affilate based in Morgantown, West Virginia. This is a affiliate of West Virginia Public Broadcasting, being the first and oldest.

1st Logo (1984-1986)

Visuals: The screen fades into a live-action footage of hills. It then transitions through a square iris effect to a shot of a forest with a river nearby. It transitions to a bridge over the river, then through Morgantown 3 times, each at a different part. After the dam shot, it transitions to a white background with the text "WNPB" in a black connected tube font. Below it is "Morgantown, West Virginia" and above it is "{A - PRESENTATION - OF", all in a black Times New Roman font.

Variant: Sometimes, the logo may have a blue tint.

Technique: Live-action animation blended with simple animation.

Audio: A soothing Moog tune, which is the beginning of A Clearing.

Availability: Seen on Musical Masterpieces-Brahms 1 and Country Moods.

2nd Logo (1986-1996)

Visuals: On a black background, the same logo from before, but colored in a blue/light-blue gradient color, fades in. Below it is a grey wedge with "Morgantown" in a yellow ITC Avant Grade-like font. The logo and text shine.

Technique: Shining effects.

Audio: A bell is heard at the beginning, followed by a woodwind tune with a choir in the background.

Availability: Seen on Arthurdale: A First Lady's Legacy.
