RBS TV

Background

RBS TV (or originally extended as Rede Brasil Sul de Televisão) is a Brazilian television network owned by Grupo RBS, and one of the oldest Rede Globo affiliates. RBS TV owns 12 television stations in Rio Grande do Sul. It was established in December 29th, 1962 under the name TV Gaúcha as a TV Excelsior affiliate before becoming a Rede Globo affiliate in 1967, and has expanded its broadcast to a neighbor state called Santa Catarina under the name TV Catarinense (No longer a part of Grupo RBS, as this network was sold to Grupo NC, and it's currently NSC TV). In 1983, its name and all of its affiliates were changed to the current name to unify the brand in both states. RBS TV Porto Alegre is the headquarters for the network. RBS TV stations produce an average amount of local and regional programming, composed mainly of news, but also drama series, documentaries, sports, variety and youth programming.

1st ID (1985-1987)

Visuals: The camera moves around several blue waves. Then they move to the center of the screen, revealing themselves to be the RBS TV logo, which flashes, becoming metallic and 3D. Below appear landing the letters "RBS TV" with a trail effect. The logo shines again.

Audio: A wind sound effect, with the announcer saying the station info. The it is sucesed by a synth note, and ends with a proud fanfare, which was the RBS TV theme at the time.

Availability: It is only known to be used by the RBS TV stations from Santa Catarina.

2nd ID (1987-1988)

Visuals: The logo starts off as a grayscale background. Then the camera pans down to reveal a sphere in the same color, and 2 tall shapes with black lines. Once the sphere goes to the two shapes, the said shapes forms a rainbow color. Then the sphere gets to the edge of the shapes midair, before a majority of the background forms into many squares to reveal a colorful background. Then the sphere and the background tilts to reveal the background is a rectangular prism in black, and a colorful outline gets to the sphere. The outline then gets through the rectangular prism to make the number "25" in a casual font on a black background. Then a colorful transparent rectangle gets through the sphere, revealing the RBS logo, while we still pan around the number. Then the 3D text "RBS TV" gets under the number, the RBS logo changes to white, and the text and number changes to a darker color.

Variant: Later, the ID was changed to show the RBS TV logo instead of the anniversary logo. This would be used in both states instead of being exclusive to Rio Grande do Sul.

3rd ID (1988-1990)

Visuals: On a dark blue background, a brown sphere is shown slowly getting close to the screen, as two orange rectangles take up the sides. The logo zooms out to reveal a set of rectangles in various colors. Once the sphere gets close enough, it gets through the rectangles, resulting in the sphere becoming the colors. Then the sphere goes downward to reveal a tiled floor with cubes in the same color moves up. The sphere "rolls" at the floor while the cubes do the same thing. Then the floor changes to the RBS logo while the sphere rolls to the edge. Then the logo zooms out to reveal the number "1" next to the logo, and the text "RBS TV" at the bottom of the two, all in gray. Finally, the text, number, and the logo shines.

Audio: A Brazilian synth fanfare with an announcer that might be repeating his lines.

Availability: It was only known to be used by the RBS TV stations in Santa Catarina for their 10th Anniversary.

4th ID (1990-1992)

Visuals: On a black background, a sphere goes around a bunch of transparent rectangles in various colors. Once the sphere gets off screen, the logo pans down, and the RBS logo in silver slides in front of the transparent rectangles. Then the RBS logo tilts as the text "RBS TV" appears.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A rock theme with an announcer.

5th ID (1992-1994)

Visuals: On a black background, the 1985-1992 RBS logo is shown tilting, and the logo pans to it's side. Then a rainbow color appears with the text "RBS TV" zooming in. Then the logo pans out of the colors, revealing a refined version of the RBS logo. Then the text gets under the RBS logo and said logo steadies to it's spot.
