Rainforest Films

Rainforest Films was a company formed in 1994 by Will Packer that primarily produced films for an African-American audience. It was formed after the obscure 1994 film Chocolate City became a minor hit at Blockbuster. In June 2014, the company began plans for shutting down, and was hit with a lawsuit from Bernard Bronner, who claimed that the company mistreated him when he owned part of it. The company still shut down anyway, and dismissed the lawsuit as "frivolous"; Packer had formed Will Packer Productions the year prior. The company did not use a logo until 2000.

1st Logo (March 10, 2000-December 28, 2004)

Visuals: On a black background is a dark blue raindrop, glowing in green, that has several overlapped green trees on it with a little relief effect. "RAINFOREST FILMS" is written in a white Copperplate Gothic Bold font below.

Variant: On Trois, the raindrop is placed in a circle on a white background, with some waterdrops behind it and the company name sandwiched between in blue and in a Britannic Bold font.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the Trois trilogy and Motives.

2nd Logo (October 7, 2005)

Visuals: There is the same raindrop design like in the previous logo, but the colors are milder. The logo also takes more of the screen. The name, written in orange 3D capitals in Trajan Pro, is posed over the lower part of the raindrop. A small light shines under the name, making a gradient color effect.

Variant: At the end of the film, the logo is still and in black and white.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen only on The Gospel.

3rd Logo (January 12, 2007-February 14, 2014)

Visuals: The camera zooms out through a green rainforest, but it suddenly releases out from a drop of water, with three pines inside it. The drop zooms to the center of the screen, where

in the Trajan Pro font is seen.

  • On Obsessed and Think Like A Man, the logo segues from the Screen Gems Pictures logo.
  • On About Last Night, the animation is the same as above, but continuing from the "SCREEN GEMS PRESENTS" in the former logo, the company name reads "A RAINFOREST FILMS AND OLIVE BRIDGE ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTION".

Technique: CGI by Brian Castleforte.

Audio: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on films such as Stomp the Yard, Think Like a Man, About Last Night, and This Christmas, among others. This doesn't appear on Ride Along.
