Background

A24 (formerly known as A24 Films until 2016) is an American film and TV distribution, production, and finance company founded on August 20, 2012 by marketing and distribution veterans Daniel Katz, David Fenkel, and John Hodges. Their first film was released next year. It is named after the Autostrada A24 motorway in Italy, which Katz was driving on the moment he decided to found the company.[1]

Logo (February 8, 2013-)

Visuals: On a black background with a faint halo effect, a white stripe flies down diagonally and is split into RGB color channels. This is followed by a horizontal stripe and a vertical stripe, both of which fly in next to the diagonal one. A circle and a semicircle slide out on top of the horizontal stripe, and several thin lines fly and draw in near the shapes, forming the text "A24." The logo remains on-screen before folding away.

Variants:

  • There was a prototype variant of this logo where the animation is much different - it eventually went unused. The logo begins on a shaky black screen for a few moments before several shapes flash on the screen in multiple colors in timing with the 3-note melody and then quickly back away in white. The shapes float for a moment before they fold out, revealing that they are "A24" before breaking apart in the style of the movie logo's formation.
  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with other logos.
  • A zoomed-out version exists.

Technique: 2D animation by GrandArmy.

Audio: None or the opening/closing theme of the movie/show.

Audio Variants:

  • The original Vimeo version of this logo uses a musical bed with synthesizers and cellos. Composed by Felt Not Heard, this version has reportedly not been seen on any of the company's films.
  • The rejected prototype featured an 8-bit chiptune theme also composed by FNH, accompanied by some sliding and clicking sounds.

Availability: Seen on all films from the company starting with A Glimpse in the Mind of Charles Swan III. Also seen on TV series such as The Carmichael Show, Euphoria, Ramy and Hazbin Hotel.
