ABC Kids

1st Ident (September 14, 2002-Fall 2006)

ID: Each ID is set in a stadium, with some cheerleaders and various Disney Channel characters doing an event that leads to the ABC Kids logo being revealed.

Variants:

  • A cheerleader backflips, then we cut to some more cheerleaders holding up their proms and a close-up of a crowd cheering. A billboard with the ABC Kids logo is seen in the next shot, with another cheerleader twirling. Two more cheerleaders on the stadium field hold up their proms. The ABC Kids logo is seen on the stadium field as the camera zooms in on it.
  • Kim Possible's boyfriend, Ron Stoppable, spots her on a chair with a parachute attached to it. Then, a ball with the ABC logo on it is thrown to Raven from That's So Raven. After a clip from Lizzie McGuire is shown, Suga Mama Proud from The Proud Family throws another ball that reads "ABC" towards Oscar Proud, who spreads his legs to allow the ball to pass through it. Penny Proud tells Oscar to watch out for the ball and it hits him in the back. A boy is seen hitting a ball with his bat before teleporting to catch it. The ABC Kids logo is seen, with the logos of the shows that aired on the block surrounding it and flying away.

Technique: Primarily CGI, 2D animation, and live-action, with chroma-keying technology.

Music/Sounds: Usually a hip-hop tune with cartoon sound effects and an audience cheering.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • "We'll be back with more Power Rangers Wild Force on ABC Kids!"
  • "Power Rangers Dino Thunder is back on ABC Kids!"
  • "Ooh! We'll be right back on ABC Kids!"
  • "We'll be right back on ABC Kids!"

Availability: Extinct. Seen before and after commercial breaks or used as a promo from 2002 to 2006.

Legacy: These bumpers are well-known among many kids in the US who grew up with watching Disney Channel programs.
