Background

Dokuritsu Eiga Co., Ltd. (独立映画株式会社) was a Japanese independent film production and distribution company. Established in 1954, it absorbed the assets, personnel, and distribution operations of Hokusei Eiga Co., Ltd..



1st Logo (June 24, 1954-April 10, 1955)

Visuals: The camera rapidly zooms into the three-dimensional letters "独立" over a textured background to a close-up. Afterwards, "独立映画株式会社配給" in white fades in below.

Availability: Seen on Taiyou no nai machi (太陽のない街) and Kyoudai (姉妹)

2nd Logo (January 22, 1955)

Visuals: On a black background, a rectangle outline, slanted to the left, is seen. A star is embedded on the upper right corner of the outline, while "独立" is slanted to the right and is embedded on the left side of it, giving the illusion that the kanji is coming out of a screen. Below is "独立映画株式会社" handwritten. Underneath is "製作 · 配給".

3rd Logo (1955?-19??)

Visuals: On a dark background, an emblem is seen consisting of the slanted letters "独立" with a slanted frame around it and a star embedded within the top frame. The logo is seemingly made out of glass. A light then illuminates the logo. A filmstrip is also revealed below the logo, which has "独立映画株式会社" in white inscribed over it.
