Background

AMLF (Agence méditerranéenne de location de films) was the distribution company of Pathé Cinema which operated from 1971 to 1999. In June 1999, AMLF and Guild Pathé Cinema were folded into Pathé Distribution.

Logo (September 17, 1971-1984)

Visuals: On a dark cloudy background, several ribbons (2 in red, one in pink, and the last in light blue) come in and wrap around the screen, forming the logo. The background continues to zoom in.

Technique: Cel-animation.

Audio: A synthetized Moog fanfare.

Availability: It was taken on early films distrbuted by AMLF, such as Le maître d'école and Mille milliards de dollars.

2nd Logo (June 6, 1984-May 13, 1999)

Visuals: On a black background, there is blue stripes coming from the left and right from the screen. They merge, stripe by stripe, until "amlf" in the bubbly script font, is formed. A white outline then appears around the whole thing, and "PRESENTE" appears below the logo.

Variant(s):

  • On some movies, the text "PRESENTE" is missing.
  • In its early years, the background was blue.
  • A longer variant exists in which the background is dark blue and the AMLF logo, once formed, has its outline form in a spiraling trail. It slightly zooms in with a trail effect as well. It appeared on Pinot simple flic.
  • There is a version of the above variant that just has the logo zooming in without any effects, and the outline fades in.

Technique: Scanimate.

Audio: None, or the movie's opening theme.

Audio Variant: On Didier, there is director and lead role Alain Chabat excitedly breath like a dog, before saying "AMLF". On French prints of Raw Deal, the music of De Laurentiis Entertainment Group's first logo is heard, most likely due to a plastering error.

Availability: The logo is mostly kept intact on reprints. It is seen on The Three Brothers, La Cité de la Peur, My New Partner, Germinal, The Bear and Associations de malfaiteurs, among others.
