Background

Vasu Films was the production company of Indian film producer N. Vasudeva Menon.



1st Logo (October 19, 1960-January 26, 1968)

Visuals: Fading in, there is a model comprising a giant 3D "VF" facing towards the left sitting on top of a pedestal containing the company name inscribed within it against a sunburst background. The camera slowly zooms in towards the model.

Technique: Camera-controlled animation.

Audio: A high-pitched melody made by a flute with two ascending glockenspiel notes on the start and end.

Audio Variant: On it's earliest appearnce, Jhoola, the flute theme is initially lower-pitched and the glockenspiel notes are in descending order.

Availability: Seen on B&W movies released by the company like Kairasi, Jhoola, Bharosa or Poovum Pottum.

2nd Logo (September 23, 1965-June 12, 1970)


Visuals: On a black background, the same model is seen in the middle but now with color, with the "VF" along with the pedestal in gold, and the lower pedestal being in grey. Behind the model is an oscillating sunburst background in the colors red, yellow, and blue.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A different arrangement of the flute theme but with a gong at the start.

Availability: Seen on color movies released by the company like Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Waris and Khandan.

3rd Logo (August 1, 1967)


Visuals: Fading in, a silhouette of the same model is seen in the middle but with a pink light on the bottom. A bright blue light illuminates the rest of the room shortly after, only leaving the model silhouetted. The camera then starts to zoom in on the model, which causes a set of lights to illuminate the model, now more colorized, where the "VF" now has a bright outline, and the company name is white, sitting within a black bar part of the pedestal below the "VF". the camera stops zooming once it is close enough to the model.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: Another render of the flute melody, almost similar-sounding to the first logo.

Availability: Seen only on Nai Roshni.
