Background

Pyramide Distribution is a French distribution company that was founded in 1989.

1st Logo (January 24, 1990-1991)

Visuals: On a black background, multiple blue, fairly transparent scalene triangles and a rhombus fly out, syncing together to form a pyramid. As "PYRAMIDE" in a slightly darker shade of blue fades in, the pyramid rotates counterclockwise and morphs into a horizontal bar. Afterwards, a different pyramid with one side colored black flies out and spins, stopping on top of the "I". Lastly, "DISTRIBUTION pops in underneath the bar.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the company's earliest films such as May Fools.

2nd Logo (1991-1994)

Visuals: On a black background, the same pyramid from before in dodger blue zooms out. When it stops, the company name in white fades in. A bar in the same color as the pyramid then draws itself in between the two words from the left.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Like before, many modern prints of films from this period cut this logo out. One film that has this logo intact is an original print of Sale comme un ange.

3rd Logo (February 16, 1994-2001)

Visuals: On a blank screen, a white outline of a pyramid is drawn. Afterwards, its right side is filled light blue and "PYRAMIDE" fades in aligned with the pyramid's center side on the left. The shape rotates 90 degrees clockwise, shrinking the shaded side before it being fully removed. A copy of the pyramid from before fades in above the "I" and then the remainder of the pyramid, excluding the underline, disappears and "DISTRIBUTION" fades in underneath.

Variant: On The Whims of a River, the logo is tinted blue.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A bandurria theme. Otherwise, none.

Availability: Appears on French prints of Leningrad Cowboys Meet Moses, Death and the Maiden, and The Whims of a River, among other films from this period. Tubi prints preserve this logo on the latter film.

4th Logo (2001-)

Visuals: While the text from before in underneath, an outline of a square, some pyramids, and the underline for the company's name are drawn using multiple lines. Shortly before this sequence finishes, the lines forming the square and pyramids fade out to reveal a picture of some pyramids in a desert and then a signature on the bottom right.

Variant: There is a variant where "DISTRIBUTION" is replaced by "PRODUCTIONS".

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on many films distributed by the company including Je suis Charlie and High Society.
