Background

Office Kitano is a film production company and talent agency, founded in February 1988 by Japanese filmmaker and television personality Takeshi Kitano (a.k.a. Beat Takeshi). The company didn't use a logo until 1997.

Logo (September 3, 1997-)

Visuals: On a black background, a glowing, stylized blue "K" fades in. The glowing, stacked white text "OFFICE KITANO" then fades in next to it.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: A four-note ethereal synth theme ending in a string sounder, composed by Joe Hisashi. On some films, the opening theme is used.

Availability: Seen on Takeshi Kitano's movies, including Hana-bi (the first film to use this logo), Kikujiro (the first to feature the music), and Outrage, among others.
