Background

Cinema Service was one of the two biggest film companies in South Korea. Being the first South Korea's largest entertainment company, it played an important role in the rise of the South Korean film industry.

1st Logo (August 12, 2000)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a series of orbiting filmstrips surrounding a blue planet in the distance. They begin to spread out, causing a blue-red light to occur. Blue vortex begins to fade in, and two of the filmstrips appear close to the screen, with the rest disappearing. The screen gets more blue-tinted, and various flashing cyan glowing white shapes begin to settle themselves. Whilst this happens, the blue tint begins to darken, and once the shapes settle before blurring out, another copy of the white shapes begins to flash in, revealing the word "CİNEMa" in a trashy script font, and the spaced out red words "SERVICE" appearing in a motion blur effect below the aforementioned. The Korean translation in gray also fades below.

Technique: 3D CGI.

Audio: A held synth note that gets more ominous at the end, followed by a synth whoosh and various whooshes.

Availability: So far, seen only on Bloody Beach.

2nd Logo (January 13, 2001-September 29, 2005)

Visuals: There is a huge and white light that slides to reveal the word "CINEMA" in Tahoma Bold, zooming out. A searchlight enlights a grey floor to reveal and materialize the word "SERVICE" in gray, placed below and slighty to the left. At the end, the background turns black and the logo shines.

Byline:

  • 2001-2002: "a Locus Holdings entertainment company"
  • 2002-2004: "a unit of PLENUS Entertainment Inc."
  • 2004-2005: Bylineless.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A long whoosh, followed by a high-pitched choir note.

Availability: Found on the company's early productions, like A Perfect Match and Everybdy has a Little Secret.

3rd Logo (October 27, 2005-July 13, 2006)

Visuals: Over a black background, the logo starts with some big letters made in a gray crystal. The camera pans up and reveals a red crystal that passes, and reveals the letters of "CINEMA" zooming and spinning. A yellow light passes above and makes an orange/yellow energy that materializes itself to "CINEMA" in red. This word, turns completely gray with a light transition.

Variant: On Princess Aurora, the word "SERVICE" shines and becomes vermillion red.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A very dark three-note sounder with a whoosh, followed by sparkles and glockenspiel synths at the end.

Availability: Found on movies released in that time like See you after School and Hanbando. Its first appearence was on Princess Aurora.

4th Logo (August 3, 2006-September 7, 2016)

Visuals: A boy throws a paper airplane against grass with clouds. Another paper airplane flies. Another one comes to the logo. As it arrives, there is Korean text reading "한국영화를 이끄는 힘", which means "The power that leads Korean cinema". Two boys and a girl walk on grass. They, along with the grass, become silhouetted. The picture shrinks, revealing the text "CINEMA SERVICE".

Technique: Edited live-action.

Audio: A soothing chamber theme with the accompanying sounds.

Availability: It was seen on big-budget Korean productions including Castaway on the Moon. It also appears on the digital restoration of the 1976 movie Taekwon V released by CJ entertainment.
