IWC Media
Camenati
Background
IWC Media is a Glasgow-based television production company founded in 2004 from the merger between Ideal World Productions and Wark Clements. Two years later, they were purchased by the RDF Media Group, which became the Zodiak Media Group and Banijay after two mergers.
1st Logo (2004-2007)
Logo: We see the text "eyedoubleyousee", which is actually the pronounciation of the company's acronym. Within the text coloring, three orange fills scroll across the text, stopping on "eye" and "you" and causing each word to burst while the small text "IWC Media" fades in on top of "see".
Variants:
- Starting 2006, the logo has a byline, reading "part of the rdf media group".
- On Meet the Magoons, the logo appears on top of the main cast walking off on a white background.
- On Twin Dads, the logo is squished.
- On Richard Dawkins: The Root of All Evil and Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive, the logo is inside a horizontal white box.
FX/SFX: 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the programme.
Availability: Rare.
- Can be seen on fictional and non-fictional programmes from the mid-2000's such as Mechanibals, Stephen Fry: The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive, Twin Dads, among others.
- It also appeared on Meet the Magoons, which was lost for several years and direct footage of it isn't widely available.
2nd Logo (March 11, 2007-)
Logo: An orange radial gradient-filled circle fades in with its light moving from the bottom right to the top left. After mostly leaving the bottom right section, the white text "iwc" fades in, followed by its byline.
Bylines:
- March 11, 2007-December 20, 2010: "part of the rdf media group"
- May 12, 2011-September 20, 2012, July 22-September 23, 2015: "part of the zodiak media group" or part of zodiak media group"
- January 14, 2013-January 3, 2017: "a zodiak media company"
- February 3, 2017-July 1, 2020: "We are Banijay"
- September 18, 2020-: "A Banijay Company", with the Banijay logo to the left of the IWC logo.
Variants:
- A still version exists. This one became the primary logo starting the mid-2010's.
- Sometimes, on-screen variants featuring the logo only may have a copyright notice underneath.
- It sometimes shares the screen with other logos.
- On split-screen variants, the logo has a shadow effect.
- Starting in 2018, the logo is more vibrant with its darkest portion slightly brighter.
- On the first two series of Extreme Fishing with Robson Green, the logo is within a vertical white bar also containing the text "An IWC Media Limited production for Five".
- Series two would add the text "An IWC production for Five" in between both the logo and aforementioned text.
- Sometimes, additional in-credit text is added underneath the logo (e.g. "An IWC Media Production").
- The byline may vary in size.
- On Rudolf Nureyev: Dance to Freedom, the logo is within a white box.
- On Channel 4 co-produced programmes since the late 2010's, the logo is smaller and positioned on top of a thin white bar.
- On Climate Change: The Facts, the logo is shown within the compressed credits alongside the BBC Studios logo.
FX/SFX: 2D animation.
Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the programme.
Music/Sounds Variant: Most of the time the sound from the RDF Television logo can be heard.
Availability: Common.
- It debuted on Fallen Angel and was seen on many non-fictional programmes produced for the BBC, Channel 4, and Channel 5 such as newer episodes of Location, Location, Location, Britain's Most Historic Towns, series starring Robson Green such as Extreme Fishing with Robson Green and Robson's Extreme Fishing Challenge, among many others.
- Streaming and home media prints of several of these programmes also has this logo intact.
Editor's Note: None.
