Diaphana Distribution

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (December 12, 1990)

Visuals: On a black background, two copies of a "D" within a thinly bordered square are shown slowly rotating in opposite directions and zooming out together. They consist of a blue and plum letter within a black and white box respectively. As the screen backs away, two overlapping solid diamond shadows in blue and plum are shown. After the boxes finish moving, "Diaphana distribution" in white, fades in between the logo and the diamonds.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: Beginning with a set of whooshes, it segues into a soft and dreamy, synthesized piano pop soundtrack performed at a slow tempo. It is accompanied with ascending and descending whooshing alongside bass strings.

Availability: The logo is seen on Rez de chaussée.

2nd Logo (April 5, 1995-August 15, 2000)

Visuals: On a black background, two sides of "DIAPHANA" slide out in opposing directions from a centre lined point. Afterwards, two horizontal red lines slide in, also from opposing sides, to place themselves on top of "IAPHAN" and underneath the text as a whole respectively. "DISTRIBUTION", in white, wipes in vertically underneath the underline.

Technique: Sliding and wiping effects.

Audio: None.

Availability: The logo is seen on ... à la campagne!, Sombre and Harry, He's Here to Help.

3rd Logo (May 16, 2001-)

Visuals: On a black background, a white light, containing a circular masked portion of a tan tinted, Renaissance-era etching of a right eye, slides to the left, unveiling "diaphana", in a thick cursive font, while the mask within the etching expands to a normal, square box. When the light stops, it shrinks and absorbs the fill of the text, in the process wiping in "DISTRIBUTION" underneath "phana".

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: The logo made its earliest appearance on Roberto Succo and later appears on Le passager, L'empreinte de l'ange, Who You Think I Am?, The Green Perfume, among many other films.
