UFA Comacico

Logo (March 30, 1956-May 13, 1964)

Visuals: An expanding rough star transitions the logo from a black background to a stage with closed curtains and an elephant performer on the right. The elephant takes a few steps back before raising its trunk and right arm before walking forwards. While this happens, "UFA" in a wide blocky font slides in from the top right section of the screen. "COMACICO" appears below said text from right to left within the portion uncovered by the elephant. The last text to appear is the cursive word "présente" as the elephant raises its trunk.

Variants:

  • A color variant exists where the curtain is red and the elephant's headdress and text are blue.
    • A different color variant features the text in yellow, the curtain in a muted red colour, and the elephant's headdress in grey.
  • There is a distribution variant where "Distribué par" wipes in above the company name. The latter appears through a pop-in effect letter by letter.

Technique: Live-action combined with cel animation.

Audio: There are several rhythmic deep drum note that is followed by an ascending set of horn notes that lead to the elephant's roar. The horn fanfare before the roar plays afterwards alongside the drums but with more notes added after the ascending set.

Availability: The logo first appeared on Naughty Girl and last appeared on A Taste For Women. The color variant appears on the former film and Pouic-Pouic. The distribution variant can be seen on La chambre ardente.

Comacico

Logo (December 23, 1964-September 3, 1971?)

Visuals: Set on a zooming starfield, there are several lines entering the screen from various sections to form a stylized left-facing elephant made of geometric and organic bordered shapes. The symbol zooms out and gains some dark shading resembling the borders' reflections. After that, "COMACICO" in a shinky, blocky font zooms out syllable by syllable.

Variants:

  • There is a colour variant where the lines and text are gold.
  • An alternate variant exists where the company name crossfading to a white "PRESENTE".
  • There was also a distribution variant where the logo starts with the text "DISTRIBUE PAR" fading in the middle. The normal animation plays after the text fades out.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: A high-pitched, ascending warble is heard until the text zooms out, by that point synthesized twinkling plays. A final, held-out note ends the audio sequence before the text is formed.

Audio Variant: Sometimes, the opening theme of the film plays over.

Availability:

  • It made its debut on Les gorilles and later appeared on Le vampire de Düsseldorf as a distribution variant.
  • The colour variant has so far appeared on Le reflux, Le Voyage Du Pere, Soleil noir, and Une drôle de bourrique.
