Background
Buena Vista Interactive (not to be confused with "Buena Vista Games") was a rarely-used brand under the auspices of Disney. First appearing in 1988, it was rarely used in the 1990s. The BVI name continued to be used into the 2000s, in the shadow of Disney's main game label, Buena Vista Games. 1st Logo (July 26-December 31, 1988)
Visuals: On a repeat of rainbow-colored lines, there are two letters: "B" and "V" in a custom font. Below are the words "BUENA VISTA SOFTWARE" and "PRESENTS..." in the same color. The gray background is covered by a repeating pattern of the "BV" letters.
Variants:
- On the DOS version of the game, the logo is gold.
- On the C64 version, the background doesn’t have the "BV" pattern.
- On the Amiga version, the "BV" and the wordmark shine.
Technique: 2D sprite-based animation for the Amiga version. None for other versions.
Audio: None. On the Atari ST version of the game, the title theme.
Availability: It was only seen on Who Framed Roger Rabbit for Amiga, Atari ST, C64, Apple II and DOS.
2nd Logo (1992, June 20, 2000-2002)
Visuals: A shield is divided with a waveline. Its upper part is blue, while the lower part is purple. A flower is seen folded into a waveline. "BUENA" is above, and "VISTA" is below the shield. Under it is "INTERACTIVE" in a compressed font.
Variants:
- A black-and-white variant with "SOFTWARE" was used on Heaven & Earth (1992), but only as a very small in-credit entry.
- On Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? games from the second PC edition onwards, the logo animates like the Disney Interactive logo on the first WWtBaM? PC game, music and all.
- There was an alternate version that has a different sound.
Technique: A still, computerized graphic.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire games made during the era. Also appeared on episodes of Alias Underground previously downloadable from ABC's website, as well as the Game Boy Advance game of Power Rangers Wild Force.
3rd Logo (May 15, 1995)
Visuals: Just the plain text "BUENA VISTA" and "INTERACTIVE" in a smaller font and spaced-out letters to fit the width of "BUENA VISTA" below.
Technique: A still, computerized graphic.
Audio: None.
Availability: Appears on Gargoyles for Sega Genesis.
4th Logo (August 26, 2003-November 10, 2005)
Visuals: A white power symbol appears on a blue background. The background zooms out into a curved rectangle with some curved lines inside around the power symbol, leaving the background white. The stacked words "BUENA VISTA INTERACTIVE" appear above the figure.
Variants:
- A still version exists on some games, particularly GBA games.
- On Alias, the logo appears alongside the 1st ABC Games logo, with a Touchstone Television copyright notice below it.
- On Tron 2.0, the background is black.
- On The Nightmare Before Christmas: Oogie's Revenge, the logo is shown within the game's opening cutscene.
Technique: 2D animation.
Audio: Two clicks, a fast whoosh and a short synth note. The still variant is silent. On Tron 2.0, only one click is heard.
Availability: Seen on Tron 2.0, Power Rangers Dino Thunder, Alias (alongside the aformentioned ABC Games logo), King Arthur, and The Nightmare Before Christmas games.
