Créativité & Développement (C&D) was a French animation production company founded by Jean Chalopin in 1987 after he left DiC Enterprises. In 1996, Chalopin sold his company to Saban International Paris.

1st Logo (1989?-1991?)

Visuals: On a white background, a spring green/deep pink lightning bolt-shaped paint streak (a la the famous "Jazz" paper cup design) wipes in, while a gray egg shape with a pointy top and a vertical line in the middle draws and splits open, revealing a thin gray ampersand and forming a stylized "C&D". While it happens, the words "CRÉATIVITÉ" and "ET DÉVELOPPEMENT", slide below in from the left and the right, respectively.


  • A rare still version exists on a '90s Canadian VHS of Dennis the Menace, where it is in a gray border and placed on the top-left of a blue background, with the CFP Video logo in the bottom-right.
  • There's a version in which the company's sponsor logos "Kid O'K7" and "Planète magique", come out from the C and the D, respectively and switch places around and into the bottom of the screen while the logo zooms out a bit to the top to make the place for the "Kid O'K7" and "Planète magique" logos. Here is some information regarding the two sponsors featured on here:
    • Not much is known regarding Kid O'K7, but it was supposedly a French video label owned by Jean Chalopin that issued some videos in the late 80s.
    • Planète magique was a short-lived attempt at a futuristic, youth-oriented entertainment center with many games and state-of-the-art technologies. It was highly expensive to run, and major design flaws prevented it from launching smoothly; as a result, it only lasted nineteen months before bankruptcy forced its closure.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A weird 5-note synth jingle or none.

Availability: It is unknown what shows used this logo, and not helping matters is that on online prints of their output from this period, it usually cuts off before the logos or ends without any. It may have been seen primarily on French airings of early C&D and DIC shows. The variant was spotted on a Canadian Dennis the Menace tape entitled Super Duper Dennis, where it appeared at the start and plastered the DIC/Program Exchange logos at the end.

2nd Logo (September 13, 1992-December 8, 1995)

Visuals: On a white-gray sand background, the lightning bolt from the previous logo wipes in as a color-less and transparent shape, which then gets filled with blue-green and dark pink colors. The bolt then zooms out, as the stylized "C&D" from the previous logo and the "CRÉATIVITÉ & DEVELOPPEMENT" text in the same font as before (although both are now in black) wipe in, and then fade in after they are entirely formed.


  • A shorter version begins with the coloring of the shape.
  • An earlier version of the logo had the bolt in the last logo's colors.
  • On its final years, the logo was still.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A long whoosh sound, then an ascending piano.

Availability: Can be seen on shows like The Bots Master and Littlest Pet Shop (the 1995 version). It was also seen on the short-lived show, Happy Ness: Secret of the Loch, aired in syndication. The logo was also seen on international prints of Conan the Adventurer.
