Background

THQ Nordic GmbH is an Austrian video game company and the main publishing unit of Swedish holding company Embracer Group (also known as THQ Nordic from 2016-2019). It was founded in August 2011 when Nordic Games Holding purchased the folded JoWooD Productions and their subsidiary DreamCatcher Interactive, and turned them into "Nordic Games GmbH". On August 12, 2016, the company changed its name for better name recognition and to reflect its parent company's owning of the THQ name.
