Background
Access Software was an American video game developer based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Founded in November 1982 by Bruce Carver and Chris Jones, the studio created the Beach Head, Links and Tex Murphy series, as well as Raid Over Moscow. Access Software was acquired by Microsoft in April 1999, transitioning in name twice before being acquired by Take-Two Interactive in October 2004, receiving the name Indie Built. In January 2005, the studio became part of Take-Two's 2K Games label. Following a poor financial performance at Take-Two, Indie Built was closed down in May 2006.
1st logo (1994-1996)
Visuals: Over a space background, there are filmstrips rotating while "ACCESS" slides in from the left letter-by-letter. Later, it slides out to the nested shape at the right as the logo tilted. The filmstrip then goes moves off-screen and "INTERACTIVE MOVIE" flies to the top and "SOFTWARE INCORPORATED" appears at the right of the nested shape.
Technique: CG animation at a low framerate.
Audio: An ascending triumphant fanfare.
Availability: Seen on games from this company, including Under a Killing Moon and The Pandora Directive.
