Background

2K Marin was founded in 2007 in Novato, California, packed by several staff members from Irrational Games.

1st Logo (February 9, 2010)


Visuals: In the middle of a delapitated room, a Little Sister is shown to playing with colorful blocks, stacking one on a stack of four, before something comes lumbering towards her. As the lumbering object reveals itself as a Big Daddy (which is visible in the mirror but only the tip of its drill in the foreground), the Little Sister gets scared and then whacks the blocks towards the screen, rolling over to reveal multiple logos in the following order: 2K China, 2K Australia, Digital Extremes, 2K Marin, and the regular 2K logo. The scene then darkens as the logos light up and eventually the screen shakes, transitioning to a murky water background as all the logos merged into a large 2K Marin logo, which has a light blue shield. The logo zooms in slowly as it briefly flashes white before dimming and fading to black.

Technique: A mix of CGI and 2D animation.

Audio: Some ominous game-world sounds.

Availability: Only seen on BioShock 2.

2nd Logo (August 20, 2013)

Visuals: An scene plays out where the camera first focuses on the tire of an old 50's car colored a pearl white, flying into the open window into the shot of a suitcase in the passenger seat, which moves a little, and then pans up to see a government agent enjoying his ride through the countryside. However, his radio starts to mess us and becomes angry, of which the camera then cuts to a shot of him adjusting the radio to no avail. The camera then cuts to a shot of the car passing by a gas station and 2 large billboards, with the closer one having the 2K Marin logo and the one in the back having the 2K Games logo, along with the 2K China and 2K Australia logos to the side of it. At the end, 3 orange lights from UFOs fly across the sky, causing the entire screen to glow orange and the billboard lights to flicker, before the screen cuts to static and shuts off.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Sounds of environment, car driving, music and other noise.

Availability: Only seen on The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
