2K Marin

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Background

2K Marin was founded in 2007 in Novato, California, packed by several staff members from Irrational Games.

1st Logo (February 9, 2010)

Visuals: There is a closeup of a Little Sister stacking some colored blocks. The logo zooms out to reveal a Big Daddy behind the window. It stomps the ground, causing the cubes to fall and revealing that each block has a different one of the games companies on it. We then see each individual logo on a grungy background: Digital Extremes, 2K China, 2K Australia, and 2K Marin. The fifth cube, depicting 2K Games, is not shown fullscreen.

Technique: A mix of CGI and 2D animation.

Audio: Some ominous game-world sounds.

Availability: Only seen on BioShock 2.

2nd Logo (August 20, 2013)

Visuals: An old-style action is shown where a government agent drives his car. When the car passes an old gas station, the camera moves out and see two large billboards. One of them has the 2K Marin logo, while the farther shows the logos for 2K Australia, 2K Games and 2K China. Then three alien lights cross the sky, making it fade in static noise.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Sounds of environment, car driving, music and other noise.

Availability: Only seen on The Bureau: XCOM Declassified.
