Background

The Nintendo Switch, initially known by its codename, Nintendo NX, is a hybrid video game console developed by Nintendo and released worldwide on March 3, 2017. It is the successor to both the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS, as the console can either be used as a handheld or docked to a TV.

Logo (October 18, 2016)

Visuals: On a light blue background, the word "NX" fades in. At the left side of "N" is a white circle with a dot in it. The circle then rapidly spins clockwise until it stops spinning with the dot to the right. The logo then fades out.

Technique: Simple animation.

Audio: None.

Availability: This logo was never seen to the public outside Nintendo, however this logo was then discovered on a Mario Kart 8 Deluxe prototype (not seen during gameplay) which was recovered from a Switch ODIN-eMMC and was dumped online on November 20, 2022.

with "SWITCH" bigger than "NINTENDO". We also see two stylized Joycons beside each other. The left one is outlined, the right one is filled. Then, the right Joycon settles itself to be in line with the left one.

Variants:

• When the console is turned on for the first time, the animation plays as normal, with "SWITCH" missing, being added in sync with the click, but after that the screen zooms into between the Joycons as they split apart and the screen fades to white.
• When the console is powered on from fully turning off, the logo is simply seen still, white on a black background.
• When a game is started from the menu, a black screen is shown with the Nintendo logo in white in the top-left corner, and the Nintendo Switch logo in the bottom-right, with the Joycons to the left of the console name. The right Joycon lifts up and falls down again, causing the letters of "SWITCH" to spin.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A "click"/"snap" sound when the Joycons are aligned, mimicking the sound of the Joycons being connected to the console.

Audio Variants:

• Until 2017, there is a slightly different "click" sound effect.
• On the first time boot-up variant, a cheery tune plays, with a drumroll-like beat as the zoom occurs.
• For the other variants, none.

Availability:

• First appeared on the reveal trailer for the console, and when the console starts up and is loading games.
• It is also seen on Switch game trailers and commercials.
