20th Century Fox Television (1994-2020)/Logo Variations

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

The X-Files (Season 2 bloopers/gag reel): The logo is a still picture, the word "FOX" is replaced with "CARTER" on a yellow background, and the byline "A NEWS CORPORATION COMPANY" is replaced with "A Golden Globe Corporation".

Futurama (1999-2003, 2008-2013, 2023-):

  • The 20th Century Fox Television logo at the end of each Futurama episode is altered to read "30th CENTURY FOX TELEVISION", as Futurama is set in the 31st century. It also appears on The Simpsons episode "Simpsorama", which is a crossover with Futurama.
  • On the original run, the 1999 version is used, and a trademark "TM" symbol is used instead of the registered trademark "®" symbol.

  • When the show was revived in 2008, the 2007 variant is used. The Simpsons episode "Simpsorama" and FXX prints of the first four seasons of the show have the logo without a byline.

  • On the original Fox premiere airing of the episode "Space Pilot 3000", the "30th CENTURY FOX TELEVISION" variant is presented in 16:9, anamorphically squished to 4:3.

  • On promos of the series, the "3" is cheaply inserted in place of the "2" in an Arial font. The 1995 version of the logo is seen here.

The Simpsons (1999-):

  • In "Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo", the logo is silent. Homer says "Aah! Undo! Undo!" as he hits buttons on a keyboard, then sighs. (This audio is ripped from and calls back to the episode proper, where Homer invests stock in News Corporation. This is his reaction when Lisa says they own Fox.)
  • In "Grift of the Magi", according to the Simpsons Archive, at least one airing (probably the original airing) of this Christmas episode had Christmas bells with the fanfare. Current prints have the normal fanfare.
  • In "Children of a Lesser Clod", the audio from earlier of Bill Cosby incomprehensibly talking about Pokémon plays over the logo.
  • In "The Blunder Years", carried over from the Gracie Films variant, Homer screams loudly over the logo.
  • In "Treehouse of Horror XV", Homer's scream is noticeably later in the logo rather than the beginning.
  • In "Simprovised", there is Homer saying "Oh Bart, not coolants!" and then groaning. This audio is carried on from "Homer Live", a special segment that aired at the end of the episode (which as its name suggests was a live viewer call-in where Homer answered questions). The dialogue itself was carried on from the Gracie Films variant from the same episode.

The Normal Heart (2014, HBO TV movie): The logo is in black-and-white and in the middle of the screen.
