Background

Black Rock Studio was a Brighton-based video game studio, a rebrand of the local Climax Racing studio. It was purchased by Disney Interactive Studios in 2006. Under its new name, it had produced two games, but then went through layoffs in early 2011, despite the games selling well. Their planned sequels were cancelled as well, and the studio was announced to be fully closed by Disney on June 30, 2011.

1st Logo (September 16, 2008)

Logo: We see a dusty road from top view, where a car passes by, leaving no trail behind. Another car follows and prints the trail with the Black Rock Studio logo inside. The logo flashes on a black screen and shines before fading out.

FX/SFX: The cars passing, the logo appearing and shining.

Music/Sounds: Sounds of engines and a bang.

Availability: Seen on PURE.

2nd Logo (May 18, 2010)

Logo: We see the 2007 Disney Interactive Studios logo, which flickers violently in white noise and color effects, and turns into the Black Rock Studio logo from before as it shakes; now seen in 3D and turned slightly as it pans to another side. The shine appears on the peak. Then the logo flickers and vanishes.

FX/SFX: The logo flickering and moving.

Music/Sounds: An aerial electronic sound with distorted squeaks.

Availability: Seen on Split/Second.
