Background

Universal Domestic Television was formed on May 7, 2002 after Vivendi Universal bought out the assets of Studios USA Television and merged the assets with the former Universal Worldwide Television to form the domestic distribution division of the company. It was absorbed into NBC Universal Television Distribution in 2004.

Logo (September 2002-2004)

Visuals: It's the same as the network counterpart, except the text below reads "UNIVERSAL DOMESTIC TELEVISION" with the URL below the logo intact.

Variant: Sometimes, the text "in association with" appear above the logo.

Technique: CGI by Picturemill.

Audio: Same as the 1997 Universal Television logo.

Audio Variants:

  • One 1996 season 3 episode of New York Undercover on Centric (now BET Her), has the 1991 Universal Television logo theme playing on the Universal Domestic Television logo, due to plastering.
  • 2002 episodes of Maury have the last few seconds of the bird chirping sounds from the MoPo Productions logo.
  • Sometimes, the end theme plays over the logo.

Availability:

  • It was seen on 2002-04 episodes of Blind Date, Maury and The Jerry Springer Show, as well as the final seasons of The 5th Wheel and The Sally Jessy Raphael Show.
  • It is also retained on every season 1 episode, early season 2 episodes, and some late season 4 episodes of New York Undercover last seen on Centric (now BET Her).
