Background

Pop is a channel originally launched in 1981 as the EPG, a service owned by United Video Service Group. After a while, it was shifted over to Trakker and renamed to Prevue Guide in 1988, then to Prevue Channel in 1993. It then changed to TV Guide Channel (then as TV Guide Network and TVGN) in 1999 after it bought out TV Guide and changed its name accordingly several times. It was then owned as an joint venture between Lionsgate and CBS Corporation until CBS acquired Lionsgate's stake in 2018, airing shows related to pop culture. Today, Pop is owned by Paramount Global.

TVGN Originals

(2011-2015)

Logo: The silver letters TVGN zoom out (from the G) with a light effect around it. The light gradually gets dimmer and revealsthe background being an urban landscape. Below it, "ORIGINAL SERIES" in black fades in beneath. A bylines fades in at the bottom.

FX/SFX: Just the logo zooming out and the fading.

Music/Sounds: A rock theme.

Availability: It was seen on the network's programming until the rebrand to Pop in 2015 such as Standup in Stilettos and Tequila Sisters.

Pop Originals

1st Logo (2015)

Logo: On a gray background, the Pop logo in cyan flips erratically while inverting into place. As it rests, a copyright for Pop Media Group appears below and a rectangle outline with "originals" in it slides out. The logo then cuts to just the Pop logo with the URL appearing from below it.

FX/SFX: The inverting and quick effects.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Rare. Seen on episodes of Sing It Out during the time, as well as Queens of Drama.

2nd Logo (2016-)

Logo: On a black background, we see a yellow rectangle waving like a flag, before the italicized text "Pop" slides into place. It then straightens out before the logo briefly inverts and cuts to the text flipped upside-down and taking up the whole screen. It then quickly cuts to the logo forming as "ORIGINAL" in yellow slides upwards, with the copyright in yellow below the loog. It then cuts to the logo again, this time fully straightening out, but after a brief inverted shot of the flipped text.

Variants: Several color variants exist, depending on the show.

FX/SFX: The inverting and quick effects.

Music/Sounds: A series of 3 synth notes, with sounds of a crowd cheering in between the synths. When used at the beginning, a female voice says "A Pop Original Series."

Availability: Current.
