King Bee Video
Ryan Froula
Background
King Bee Video was a short-lived nostalgia label operated by IVE and their second nostalgia label after The Video Late Show.
1st Logo (February 9, 1989)
Visuals: On a black background, the stacked words "KING BEE VIDEO" in a Cooper Black-like font twirl in from the lower left portion of the screen like a invisible plate, spinning as it moves in a curved path. Among reaching the top left side of it, the words start to stretch and bulge outwards as it shifts towards the screen, flattening onto into the final result.
Technique: 2D computer effects.
Audio: None.
Availability: It appears to be a placeholder logo. Seen on their initial batch of releases, which The Adventures of Charlie Chan Vols. 1 and 2, Isaac Hayes: Black Moses of Soul, and The Best of PKA.
2nd Logo (March 9-July 20, 1989)
Visuals: On a black background, the text "KingBee", with a chromed appearance to it, is seen slightly off-center, with the white text "VIDEO" spaced out to fill the space. To the top right, a 3D-rendered bee buzzes around the text slightly, rapidly fluttering its wings as it does. The bee then stops fluttering and rests on the top right of the text.
Technique: 2D computer animation with pre-rendered 3D elements.
Audio: Two separate synth drones overlapping with each other. One is supposed to symbolize a bee's buzzing and lasts several seconds shorter than the other.
Availability: Seen on The Adventures of Charlie Chan Vol. 3, Fight to the Death, Cruel and Unusual Punishment, The Tongfather, Prototype, Consenting Adult, the Thriller episode "Kill Two Birds" (released under the name Cry Terror), The Creeper, and Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
