Background

Pentrex is a home video company founded in 1984 that produces tapes and DVDs about trains, headquartered in Pasadena, CA. On April 7, 2017, it was announced that they would be merging with Highball Productions.

1st Logo (1987-1995)

Visuals: The sequence starts with a blue/black gradient background, when CGI tall tower like structures fly in forming the tile pattern. When it's nearly formed, the blue gradient "Pentrex" text comes in with a zoom motion effect, and lands on the tiles with a reflection behind the text.

Variant: On some videos, the opening scene flies in from the bottom of the tile pattern.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An ascending synth theme.

Availability: Seen on Pentrex VHS tapes and DVDs, as well as redistributions of older Pentrex videos.

2nd Logo (1996-)

Visuals: On a black background, the sequence starts with live-action steam shooting from the right side. As the steam clears up a bit, a star flies in from the right, along with a CGI metallic "Pentrex" logo, as it swoops up from the bottom. The logo swings from the bottom tip where it reflects on rippling water into its final position, with the star shining through it, as it moves from the "P" to the "x".

Technique: A combination of live-action steam effects and CGI.

Audio: Steam, a synth drone, and a triumphant note.

Availability: Seen on Pentrex VHS tapes, DVDs, and Blu-Rays.
