Caution Video

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Background

This was the home video division of the Japanese toy company Takara that released B-movies on VHS in Japan.

1st Logo (1985-1991)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a shirtless man howling or screaming while the camera zooms into his face. The word "CAUTION" (in pinkish red, with the "C" looking like a serpent that goes under the stylized "A" and "U") appears, with the byline "films that break the mold!" (also in pinkish red) appearing below it. The Japanese words "株式会社タカラ映像事業部" (A Film Division of the Takara Company) fade in on the bottom right corner of the screen.

Technique: Mostly live-action.

Audio: The man howling or screaming (the exact howl or scream varies from tape to tape), and then a loud timpani drum hit when the logo appears.

Availability: Seen on Japanese B-movie VHS tapes such as Meet the Feebles, Shocking Dark, The Runner, Hammerhead, The Blood of Others, and A Time to Die.

2nd Logo (1991-1992)

Visuals: On a black background, the red word "CAUTION" from before spins quickly. After that, the slogan "films that break the mold!" in white, wipes in from left to right below the word "CAUTION". After a bit, the logo flips downward and reveals the word "TAKARA" in a red Bodoni font with a light blue, which shines before fading out.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: The timpani sound from the previous logo.

Availability: Found on later releases from the company.
