1st Logo (November 28, 1986-1988)

Visuals: On a red-white gradient background is a white outline of a diamond zoom out towards the middle. Once it reaches the middle it becomes gray while the outline becomes shiny black. Then a gray rectangle with a golden outline flies in above the diamond and settles at the topmost point of the diamond. The inside of the rectangle becomes black and white, the silver text "V I D E O" fades in and flashes. Then the golden text "GEMS" zooms up to the middle of the diamond which becomes black in the process. The text "V I D E O" flashes from the remainder.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A serene synth fanfare.


  • Appears on UK VHS releases by the company from the time-period until 1988.
  • These include the 1986 UK VHS releases of The Telebugs, The Telebugs: In Action and The Telebugs: Strike Back, respectively, among others.
  • It also appears on the 1986 UK VHS releases of Transformers: Arrival from Cybertron, Transformers: Desertion Of The Dinobots, The GLO Friends Save Christmas, Jem: Truly Outrageous!, Fairy Tales, The Incredible Hulk: Origin of the Hulk, Captain America: The Sleeper Shall Awake, and The Mighty Thor: Enter Hercules, and the 1988 UK VHS release of Filmation's Ghostbusters (1986 animated series), respectively.

2nd Logo (September 1987-1991)

Visuals: On a black background is multiple blue and white lines shooting towards the back of the screen. The lines are arranged in a straight line pattern which drops down from the top of the screen. The lines disappear when the silver text


(where the "V" in "Video" and "G" in "Gems" appear to be larger than the other letters) slide in from the left and right sides of the screen, respectively. The words disperse and flip to the top and bottom of the screen respectively.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A loud, UAV-like whoosh that sounds like a jet taking off in the beginning. This is combined with a crash later on, then a loud laser-cymbal zap when the logo "combusts". The crash continues into the warning screen.


  • Appears on Video Gems releases from the time-period until 1991, including some Select Video releases, such as the 1987 UK VHS releases of the 1980 TV movie A Snow White Christmas, and The Transformers: The Movie (1986).
  • It also appears on the 1988 UK VHS releases of Visionaries: The Age of Magic Returns, and Animalympics, and the 1991 UK VHS release of Introducing the American Gladiators, respectively.
