Konami Video

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Background:

This was a division of video game company Konami, used to distribute videogame catalogs on VHS.

1st Logo (November 6, 1987-1989)

Visuals: On a black background, two glowing lines crawl in from the top and bottom of the screen (the top line is red and the bottom is yellow). They meet and pass each other, forming the Bacon Strips logo as they move. When the lines go off-screen, the logo rises a bit and a blue line quickly moves downwards, then slows down to form "KONAMI" as it goes off-screen. The logo glows.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A jazzy marimba/xylophone tune with metallic clangs when the lines form the logo. A sparkling sound and an echoing tom-tom is heard when the "KONAMI" is formed and when the logo glows, an ascending/descending synth bell glissando is heard.

Availability: Seen on anime tapes from Japan. [Examples?]

2nd Logo (1990-1992?)

Visuals: It's a long version of the then-current Konami logo used on Japanese television commercials.

Technique: Same as the Konami commercial logo.

Audio: Same as the Konami commercial logo.

Availability: Seen on later Konami tapes from the era. [Examples?]
