1st Logo (1980s-2002)

Visuals: On a blue background, there is a blue Kadokawa bird in a white rectangle. Above and below this is "KADOKAWA VIDEO" in white.

Variant: There is also an early version of the logo where the Kadokawa bird is different. This was changed in 1996.

Technique: A still computer graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on the anime Metropolis (2001) and Nazca. The early version is seen on the ADV VHS of Slayers.

2nd Logo (1990s-January 25, 2003)


Visuals: Same as before, but the name is in one line and there is no box, with the bird being above the logo in a larger size than before, as well as being in white.

Variant: Like before, there is also an early version of the logo where the Kadokawa bird is different. This was changed in 1996.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: None.

Availability: Appeared on VHS and DVD anime releases. It was seen on ADV's release of Full Metal Panic! from 2003. It also was on Saber Marionette J on video both in Japanese and English. The early version is found on the OVA Record of Lodoss War.

3rd Logo (2002-2008)


Visuals: It's essentially the same as the short version of the Kadokawa Shoten logo, but with orange rings zooming out to the bottom of the bird and disappearing when under the bird, and a blue comet swiping from the left, forming "KADOKAWA VIDEO" below it, followed by blue sparks shining out from behind.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The short version of the Kadokawa Shoten theme.

Availability: Appears on most releases of anime titles, and can be seen on Funimation's releases of Chrono Crusade, Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt, and Deadman Wonderland.
