Background

Touchpaper Television was formed in 2001 by Carlton executive Rob Pursey. In 2005, it became part of RDF Media Group, which was later sold to Zodiak Media Group in 2010. In 2017, it was renamed to BlackLight Television.

1st Logo (2003?-2006)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a rectangular pattern made of white and orange (sometimes blue) dots. The word "TOUCHPAPER" takes all length below and "TELEVISION" in small font is placed on the right side.

Trivia: The dots in the logo are English Braille for "TOUCHPAPER" when split into standard 2x3 Braille cells.

Variants:

  • There is a version where only the text appears.
  • It sometimes shares the screen with other logos.
  • When the logo appears on a white background, the dots and the text are blue, with the orange dots remaining the same.
  • Starting in 2005, the text is in a different font and the byline "AN RDF MEDIA GROUP COMPANY" is shown below the logo.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme.

Availability: Can be seen on Rocket Man.

2nd Logo (2006-2019)

Visuals: Similar to the previous logo, but the word "TOUCHPAPER" is in a different font and the dots are now red and blue. "TELEVISION" is also replaced with the company byline below.

Bylines:

  • 2006-2010: "part of the RDF media group"
  • 2010-2013: "part of zodiak media group"
  • 2013-2017: "a zodiak media company"
  • 2017-2019: "We are Banijay"

Variants:

  • On the first seasons of Being Human, the logo is in a white box and has the name in blue.
  • When the logo appears on a white background, "TOUCHPAPER" is in blue, just like the dots.
    • Another variant has it on a black background where it remains the same.
  • For shows that were produced in Wales, the word "Wales" appears next to "TOUCHPAPER" with it being small.
    • There is an early version where "Wales" is in blue, just like the text next to it.
  • Like the previous logo, it sometimes shares the screen with other logos.
  • On the failed pilot of the US version of NY-LON, the RDF Media Group byline is absent and the dots are red and white.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None or the ending theme.

Availability: Can be seen on Single-Handed and Being Human.
