Background

Tigress Productions is a British television production company founded in 1991 as a joint venture with Tiger Television (now Tiger Aspect Productions). The company is known for its nature documentaries such as the In the Wild series. Tigress was acquired together with Tiger Aspect by Endemol in 2009.

1st Logo (1993-2000)

Logo: Same as the Tiger Television logo but with the word "TIGRESS". The text in this logo is often different depending on the show, crediting multiple co-producers (e.g. WNET).

Variant: On In the Wild Lemurs with John Cleese, this logo shares the screen with the 1997 BBC logo.

Technique: Same as the Tiger Television logo.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Seen on In the Wild and Monkey Business, the latter of which is preserved on Amazon Freevee's prints. However, the former programme has this logo plastered by the WNET and PBS logos on American tapes.

2nd Logo (2000-Mid 2000's)

Logo: On a white background, we see the word "Tigress" in the same font as the 2nd Tiger Aspect Productions logo. Above it is a black curve with "productions" underneath.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the programme.

Availability: So far, it was seen on Riddle Of The Plague Survivors.

3rd Logo (Mid 2000's-2009)

Logo: Same as the 1998 variant of the 2nd Tiger Aspect logo, but it reads the same as the previous logo without the curve and the byline reading "an IMG media company appears below the logo.

Variant: Sometimes, it shares the screen with the other logos.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Can be seen on some nature shows and documentaries from this period, although many use an in-credit notice instead. Some programmes that have this logo include Will Work for Nuts, Nature World, and early episodes of Austin Stevens Adventures.

4th Logo (2008-2018)

Logo: The letters from the last two logos fade in within an unsequential order, followed by "PRODUCTIONS" wiping in from the left.

Bylines:

  • 2008-2009: "AN IMG ENTERTAINMENT COMPANY" in a common font.
  • 2009-2016: "an endemol company" with the Endemol logo at the left.
  • 2016-2018: "part of EndemolShineGroup" (in its corporate font).

Variants:

  • A still version exists.
  • Sometimes, it shares the screen with the other logos.
  • On Around the World in 80 Trades, the logo is inside a transparent black box.
  • Starting in 2016 until 2018, "tigress" is red orange.

Technique: The letters fading in.

Music/Sounds: None or the ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Current. Seen on newer Nature World episodes, Alone In The Wild, shows starring Monty Hall such as Monty Halls Great Irish Escape, among many others.
